Encouraging Our Youth

ODP believes in encouraging young people to live active, healthy lives. That's why the company became the first organization to offer free admission to all kids who come to a game in ANY youth athletic league uniform. The various "Kids for Free" programs at ODP facilities draw an average of 20,000 youth sports participants each year.

ODP franchises have also been responsible for numerous local initiatives to support young people. Our Lancaster, Pa. ballclub, through two specialty jersey auctions and a sports memorabilia auction, have raised more than $17,000 for inner-city baseball programs. In 2007, Barnstormers staff and grounds crew spent a day renovating and improving a deteriorating field used by participants in the city baseball program. Our York, Pa., team has initiated a similar "Trading Bases" program to assist Little League organizations in renovating and improving youth baseball fields in York County.

Our facilities routinely host baseball clinics and camps run by our professional baseball operations staff and players. We have organized several clinics and camps for disadvantaged children on Challenger Little League teams, in regional organizations for the blind and visually impaired and in a camp for burn victims.
